Batman: Arkham Asylum dev diary showcases beating up lots of dudes

Thursday, July 30th, 2009 2 views

Alright, Warner Bros. — enough is enough! Can we please just get to the inevitable sneaking and not-quite -murdering of so many goons inside Arkham Asylum’s grisly walls? Tease after tease of Batman: Arkham Asylum has left us supersaturated with media that entices us so! Worse? This one’s full of some of the best stuff we saw when we got our grubby mitts on the game during E3 — engaging multiple enemies in interesting ways, sneaking around the rafters, and of course, stealth-killing unsuspecting goons. Enough with the teasing though — August 25th is still so far away! Gallery: Batman: Arkham Asylum Original source: www.joystiq.com , delivered by rss-farm.ru

RUSE: Reveal Undermine Subvert Entrap … or not

Thursday, July 30th, 2009 1 views

Here at Joystiq we’re dedicated to solving the nagging mysteries in life, one post at a time. We figured learning the meaning of R.U.S.E. , the acronym’d title of Ubisoft’s table- not RTS, was probably near the top of your list — right up there with, “Does the fridge light stay on when I close the door?” We cornered Ubisoft’s Thomas Leroux-Hugon at the publisher’s “Holiday Preview” event yesterday and forced an answer out of him at penpoint. He didn’t know about the fridge light, but he did give us: R eveal U ndermine S ubvert E ntrap (how revealing!) — before his lips curved into a coy smile (that undermining trickster!). The real answer, he teased, isn’t that obvious. You see, the acronym doesn’t officially stand for anything (what manner of subversion is this?!). It’s a bit of a “ruse” in and of itself — it’s up to each individual to play the game and decide, Leroux-Hugon offered — clearly, his bid to entrap us. Well played

PS2 outselling PS3 and PSP

Thursday, July 30th, 2009 1 views

Sony’s total sales for the PlayStation line have fallen by 37 percent, with the PS2 the best-selling Sony console of 2009. Sony has revealed financial results for the quarter ending on June 30th, revealing that sales of the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable lines have fallen enough that they’ve been taken over by PlayStation 2 sales. According to the published results (via Eurogamer ), Sony managed to sell 1.1 million PlayStation 3s worldwide so far and 1.3 million PlayStation Portables. That’s compared to 1.6 million PS3s and 3.7 million PSPs in the same period last year. The PlayStation 2 however managed to sell 1.6 million consoles, performing just as well as the PS3 did this time last year and out-performing both of the newer PlayStations this year. Sales for Sony as a whole have fallen by 37.4 percent compared to last year too, which Sony says is mainly to do with ” lower game and VAIO PC sales “

Google Chrome adds better theme support, gallery in the works

Extensions in the wild may be a little slow in appearing, but themes for Google Chrome? They’ve just gotten a lot easier to install and there may be a flood of them available very shortly. Right now, there are only two demo themes available — Snowflake (screenshot) and Camo . Based on the thumbnail in Chrome’s new tab, Google has a whole lot more that are nearly ready for public consumption. The actual link returns a 404 error, and then, of course, the thumbnail breaks accordingly. Once the link goes live, you’ll have easy access through Options -> Personal stuff
