NBA Live 10 gameplay footage hits the hardwood

Monday, July 27th, 2009 0 views

You were probably expecting the first gameplay footage of NBA Live 10 to feature a reenactment of the 2009 NBA Finals match-up between the LA Lakers and the Orlando Magic, but it doesn’t . It seems at first glance to be the Eastern Conference Finals between the Magic and the Cleveland Cavaliers. But wait — Shaq’s in the game! He wasn’t traded to the Cavs until after the Finals, so we can only guess this is one of those crazy “What If?” scenarios. (Or, more likely, EA wanted the game’s debut video to include the power couple of Shaq and LeBron James.) Time-traveling Shaq aside, it looks good to us. What’s your first impression of EA’s latest hoops sim? Original source: www.joystiq.com , delivered by rss-farm.ru

Remember The Force Unleashed? It’s getting Trophies

Monday, July 27th, 2009 0 views

Of course Star Wars: The Force Unleashed isn’t dead. Who told you that? Not only was a new version announced to be released this fall, but the LucasArts twitter feed has revealed that the original PS3 version will be receiving a Trophy patch around the same time. The only catch: You’ll need to start a new game in order to begin earning Trophies; they aren’t retroactive with existing saved games. Sure, you’ll still need to pony up the cash for the Ultimate Sith Edition if you intend on playing one of the new missions, but if, like us, you still have an unopened copy of the original sitting around from the Great Game Flood of Q4 2008, you’ll no doubt welcome the excuse to finally crack it open. Apparently it’s pretty good. For a Star Wars game. Original source: playstation.joystiq.com , delivered by rss-farm.ru

AVG update kills iTunes

Monday, July 27th, 2009 0 views

The update - available for a period on Friday until it was repaired - saw the AVG anti-virus package misdiagnosing iTunes files as being Trojan Horses. A glitch in virus definition updates for the popular AVG Anti-Virus software from Grisoft is mis-identifying libraries required by Apple’s iTunes software as harmful – and disabling the software. According to an article over on I4U , the update – which came out on Friday – appears to be mistaking iTunes.dll and iTunesRegistry.dll for a Trojan Horse identified as Small.BOG . This affects all users of iTunes on Windows, with some unfortunate side effects: if AVG is allowed to quarantine or delete the files, iTunes will no longer operate. Although a patch has now been issued by Grisoft which corrects the false positive issue, many users over at the Apple Support forums are left confused and bewildered. Some iTunes users have been left with the impression that Apple’s software really was infected, with one user even stating that “ even if you go back to Apple and get the [iTunes] setup again, [it] is infected. ” This isn’t the first time a false positive in an anti-virus application has wreaked havoc: back in 2008 a similar flaw in AVG left Windows systems unbootable as it removed the system file user32.dll – again mis-diagnosing it as a Trojan Horse. More recently, Computer Associates’ Internet Security Suite claimed that files associated with the Cygwin Linux-style system environment along with Windows XP Service Pack 3 were infected with the Win32.AMalum.ZZQIA virus.

Monday, July 27th, 2009 0 views

SuperF4 is a light weight, open source Windows utility that kills running apps dead. Just hit Ctrl+Alt+F4 and whatever program is in the foreground will terminate instantly. You won’t get a warning or a prompt to save your work. It’ll just close. Sure, you could do something similar by firing up the Windows task manager, locating the running process and terminating it. But SuperF4 accomplishes this much, much faster. You can also press the Windows key + F4 to turn your mouse cursor into a skull and crossbones. The next program you click on will be terminated
