A $300 Million dollar data center project to house IT operations for the state of Washington has come under fire by two state legislators as half-baked, inefficient and unsound. What’s the alternative? Why, putting all of the state’s data center operations “in the cloud”, of course! Cue : Circus music, dancing children and an end to all of humanity’s ills This is the part where the Big Brain appears but Leela arrives with an urgent message to Fry and saves the day, right? Right ? Calling the proposal a ” $300 Million dollar mistake “, Rep. Reuven Carlyle suggests that the state, “Utilize cloud services from commercial providers such as Google, Microsoft [ or ] Amazon.” So, you’re just going to stick all the state IT in the cloud because in anecdote, it sounds less expensive? Heck, if this really is the future, why don’t we outsource “the cloud” itself to a cloud computing company as well? There’s really no need for any organization to own infrastructure at all! We’ll just sign up for an Amazon S3 account, push the big magic “upload” button and call it a day

In what will no doubt become another game of device authentication tennis, Palm webOS 1.1 fixes what iTunes 8.2.1 tore asunder: sync with the Pre. Yep, 1.1 is hot off the networks and ready for a hefty 87MB download. I like how Palm’s notification states “We’ll download it over the next couple of days when your device is idle and a high speed network is available.” There’s that background magic at work! Your move, Apple. Oh, apparently there are bugfixes and fancy things like remote wipe and auto-lock added in this update. Like you care while syncing all those torrented episodes of The Office , right? [via PreCentral and Engadget ] Original source: www.pheedcontent.com , delivered by rss-farm.ru

Rios and Salem have a tough choice to make in this latest trailer for Army of Two: The 40th Day . The clip highlights the game’s new morality system , a set of scripted events where the player (or players, if you’re rocking co-op) must make a choice, shaping the way the game plays out. In the video above, the same scene we saw at E3, Rios and Salem find a gun stash, but a nearby officer walks in and catches the two in the act. As one might assume, he’s not to happy with what he sees. Do Rios and Salem put the guns back? Do they take them anyway? Do they just shoot the crap out of the cop?

Professional artist Young s. Ko. has numerous video games under his belt, all listed on his blog and all likely to be very familiar to you. Why, he’s done vehicle art for games such as Need For Speed Shift , Burnout Revenge , Pure and even Pure 2 . “But wait!” you exclaim. “One of those hasn’t come out!” You’re right — Need For Speed Shift hasn’t been released yet — but please, you really need to concentrate on the “Pure 2″ thing. That’s what this whole post is about. According to the project’s description, a sequel to last year’s thrilling off-road racer has not only failed to materialize, but may have been sent to the scrap heap altogether
