If you had told us five years ago that 2009 would be a year to remember for 2D fighters, we would’ve called you a crazy person and erased you from our buddy list. Sure enough, with solid releases Street Fighter IV and BlazBlue already dropping this year, and Marvel vs Capcom 2 , Tatsunoko vs Capcom and, as the above video shows, King of Fighters XII awaiting release, we would’ve been the crazy one. If you’re a fan of the occasional bout of two-dimensional fisticuffs, then you’ve got a lot to choose from this year. It’s as if millions of piggy banks suddenly cried out in terror, and were suddenly silenced … by giant hammers. Original source: www.joystiq.com , delivered by rss-farm.ru

Users of Computer Associates’ anti-virus products are understandably irate that a bad update left them with unusable systems. Computer Associates found itself with some unhappy customers yesterday after a glitch in their virus definitions blacklisted a series of Windows XP system files. As reported over on CNet , the files – mostly releated to Windows XP Service Pack 3 – were automatically quarantined by the company’s anti-virus software after mistakenly being diagnosed with the Win32/AMalum.ZZQIA virus. It wasn’t just files from Microsoft either: certain parts of the popular Cygwin Linux-style environment, often used by programmers and other techie types to implement functionality present in Linux but missing from Windows, were also quarantined. This resulted in the files disappearing, seemingly deleted – and programs that rely on their presence refusing to work. While the files weren’t actually deleted – by default, the CA anti-virus package renames the files’ extensions to .AVB in order to prevent their execution – it proved to be a pain for many customers, who vented their anger on the company’s official forum . Users of CA Internet Security Suite are advised to update to version 6606 of the virus signature database before using the GUI to release the affected files from quarantine, while corporate users with CA Threat Manager are asked to manually find all files with a .AVB extension and rename them

Microsoft’s Office 2010 - The Movie is a tale of an IAT operative out to avenge his dead partner and save the wlord from a rogue font. Really. Microsoft has made tentative steps into the film industry with a teaser trailer for Office 2010 – The Movie. The all-action blockbuster film – directed by Dennis Liu – follows an operative of the Office IAT Division as he attempts to find and eradicate a rogue font uploaded to the Internet by a malicious hacker responsible for the death of his partner. When the font is viewed, it triggers a brief period of hypnosis which makes the reader believe whatever is written in that font – threatening world peace. Having been brought back into active service against his will, the agent must put his feelings for his deceased partner aside and hunt down the hacker – before she finds him. Oh, and did I mention that the IAT agent’s deceased partner was Microsoft Clippy, the irritating paperclip that was excised from the Office suite in 2004?

GameStop has updated its site with a listing for a limited edition of Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 exclusive to the retailer. The product page lists the $69.99 premium release as including an 80-page book divided into three sections: art from the game, a color Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 comic and a strategy guide. There’s no mention of special packaging for the edition, which is dated for September 29. We contacted Tecmo for more info and were told that additional details will be disclosed within the next two weeks. The book sounds alright, but we’re hoping for some additional goodies to sweeten the deal. Original source: playstation.joystiq.com , delivered by rss-farm.ru
