Click for full cover EA’s getting a new slapsticker for its NHL series of games, as the Chicago Blackhawks’ right winger, Patrick Kane, will be gracing the cover of NHL 10 . Drafted in 2007, the kid has been a great player since hitting the ice, and is a solid choice for the cover. But is he a better choice than the competition’s cover guy ? All we want to know is: where’s the Sidney Crosby love? The Penguins did win the Stanley Cup this year, after all. Also, we looked that up on Wikipedia. A final Saints Row 2 moment with Gary Busey

Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009 0 views

Over the past few months, we’ve come to rely on Saints Row 2 ’s bizarre, Gary Busey-centric advertising campaign as a source of humor and, more importantly, spiritual renewal. As a final farewell, Busey is promoting the free “UnKut” DLC from the game in a new video. Gary has used his laser-like vision to peer into your soul … and his reaction to what he found there? Well, we don’t think you’re going to like it, let’s just leave it at that. Oh well, the DLC is free, just how much persuasion do you need? Original source: www.joystiq.com , delivered by rss-farm.ru

Commodore 64 vs. iPhone 3GS showdown

Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009 2 views

I have a confession to make: though I am an unabashed iPhone lover, nothing will ever top the infatuation I had with the Commodore 64. The C64 was my family’s first computer, and it was soon to become my computer. Harry McCracken over at the Technologizer blog latches onto a recent story about a Commodore 64 emulator (reputedly a very good one) that was rejected for entry into Apple’s iPhone App Store due to the fact that code interpreters and emulators are expressly forbidden. Unfortunately, this appears to be a a blanket application of this rule, which seems to have been intended to block things like Adobe Flash, but the point is that it was blocked. That story lead Harry to come up with a magnificent grid comparing the venerable C64 to the iPhone 3GS , a comparison which seems apt considering the fervent popularity of each platform.

ARM chips coming to LG TVs

Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009 0 views

The next generation of LG TVs will feature ARM-based processors capable of displaying web-based content. With more and more manufacturers looking to use ARM’s range of low-voltage RISC processors, the diminutive chips could be heading to a living room near you thanks to plans by LG Electronics. According to an article over on VentureBeat , the company is planning to integrate the ARM11 MPCore multi-core processor into its next-generation range of TVs in order to offer seamless integration with web-based content. The plans – which involve pairing a dual- or quad-core ARM11 chip with an ARM Mali graphics chip – will bring web-based content into LG TVs, allowing for greater levels of interaction than is currently possible – and without the need for any additional hardware. It’s already known that the ARM processor and graphics chips are more than powerful enough to play back Flash-based content, offering up the possibility of rich multimedia functionality – a must for a TV, really. Fully-featured web browsing is also likely to make an appearance, with sites accessible with “ one or two clicks of the remote. ” It’s difficult to see the feature taking off, however: most households that can afford a new, feature-rich HD TV will already have at least one computer on which they can browse websites, and without a dedicated keyboard peripheral text entry and website navigation could prove to be a pain
